Conductometric study of polystyrene sulfonate sodium in 1–Butyl–4–methylpyridinium bromide aqueous solutions

Conductivity measurements of Sodium polystyrene sulfonate (NaPSS) were carried out in aqueous solutions 1–Butyl–4–methylpyridinium bromide [BMPyr]Br with diffirent concentrations ( m[BMPyr]Br=0.0021, 0.0043 and 0.0065 mol•kg-1 ) at temperature 288.15 K. The scaling theory is used for the description of electrical conductance of polyelectrolytes. The effects of the polyelectrolyte concentration, the relative permittivity of the medium have been discussed. The results reveal that the molar conductivity of NaPSS was decreased with increasing concentration NaPSS and [BMPyr]Br. The values of fractions of uncondensed counterions were increased with NaPSS concentration. The results indicate that the fraction of uncondensed counterions is decreased by increasing concentration of [BMPyr]Br.
