Empirical potential energy curve for the ground state of AlH from a multi-isotopologue direct potential fit analysis

The AlH molecule is one of the most intensively studied diatomic metal hydrides, due to its astrophysical significance [1]. Spectroscopic investigations on AlH began in the 1920s [2], and so far, several electronic transitions involving the X1Σ+ ground state and the low-lying excited states have been observed [3–5]. Transition from first excited A1Π singlet state to the X1Σ+ ground state appears in the 19000–25000 cm–1 spectral region [5]. In the case of the X1Σ+ state of AlH, the pure rotational spectra using submillimeter absorption spectroscopy [6–9] and infrared spectra using diode-laser and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy [10–12] have been reported.
